Get Comments Count Plugin for WordPress

This plugin displays the number of comments a post has in your RSS feeds. How is this useful, you ask? It’s convenient because it tells your subscribers how many comments your posts have in news readers such as Bloglines or FeedDemon. This plugin works well with my Xanga Crosspost plugin or other syndication plugins.

Example Applications:

  • RSS news readers: Comment counts appear as inline images in your feed
  • In a general RSS aggregator / remixer (e.g. Suprglu)
  • Syndicated blog posts — show comment counts in crossposts to Xanga and similar platforms

Features:

  • Shows the number of comments a post has as an inline image at the end of your post
  • Will only appear in syndicated entries — does not show up on your main WordPress site

Installation:

  1. Unpack / unzip the archive
  2. Copy the entire “tantan” directory to your WordPress plugins directory ([WORDPRESS DIR]/wp-content/plugins)
  3. Go into your WordPress admin, click on the “Plugins” tab, and then activate “Get Comments Count”
  4. You’re done! Comment counts for each of your blog entries will now appear in your RSS feed
