This plugin displays the number of comments a post has in your RSS feeds. How is this useful you ask? Well, not too muchl. But it’s convenient because it tells your subscribers how many comments your posts have in news readers such as Bloglines or FeedDemon. This plugin works well with my Xanga Crosspost plugin or other syndication plugins.
Example Applications:
- RSS news readers: Comment count shows up as images for my TanTanNoodles feed: Bloglines.
- In a general RSS aggregator / remixer: Suprglu.com.
- And you can also show comment counts in syndicated blog posts: Xanga.
Author: Joe Tan (joetan54@gmail.com)
License: GPL
Features:
- Shows the number of comments a post has as an inline image at the end of your post
- Will only appear in syndicated entries, does not show up on your main WordPress site
Installation:
- Unpack / unzip the archive
- Copy the entire tantan directory to your Wordpress plugins directory. Your wordpress plugins directory should be something like [WORDPRESS DIR]/wp-content/plugins.
- Go into your Wordpress admin, click on the Plugins tab, and then activate Get Comments Count.
- You’re done! Comment counts for each of your blog entries will now appear.

Have you ever used this with LJXP, the plugin that re-posts your articles to LiveJournal? When I try, it puts the wrong URL on the article in LJ. It works on other RSS feeds on my blog, but on LJ it puts in the img url as src=”http://blog.xcski.com/wp-content/plugins/tantan/g et-comments.php?p=” so it shows as “-1 comments”.
I have modified this plugin to output a text link rather than an image if Pete is still looking for that. Inserting that into the title is more that I care to attempt.
Does the image generation also work on a wordpress blog hosted on a windows/IIS server?
