I’m a big fan of Amazon Web Services, it’s a great way for developers to deploy scalable web application without having to invest a lot into setting up infrastructure. Pricing is very affordable, there are no start up or setup fees, no minimum monthly fees, and you pay for only what you use. Too bad more of the real world doesn’t operated like this…

After reading about how other bloggers are using Amazon’s Simple Storage Service to help digg proof and scale their web sites, I decided to try and come up with something to help facilitate this. What I came up with is the Amazon S3 plugin for WordPress, which basically uses Amazon’s S3 content delivery network to host all the files you upload via WordPress. Once you’ve installed this plugin, you don’t need to worry about it anymore, since it runs in the background. Files you upload are automatically sent over to Amazon S3. There is also a file browser which allows you to easily browse and manage your Amazon S3 bucket (for any files that were not uploaded via WordPress).

Learn more about Amazon S3, and then click on over to the plugin’s page to install it on your own site.
