See the Morning by Chris Tomlin
One thing I really enjoyed about his previous Arriving album was that it was worshipful, and captured such a great atmosphere of praise. This album builds on that and sets a new bar for great worship, both musically and lyrically. The album opens with the question, “How can I keep from singing your praises?” and answers with a powerful rendition of “Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone”. Here’s the new refrain:

My chains are gone, I’ve been set free. My God, my Savior has ransomed me. And like a flood, His mercy rains. Unending love. Amazing Grace.

Go listen to the full album, streamed from MSN, and then run to go buy the album.

Good Monsters by Jars of Clay
I love the sound of this new album, it’s got a lot more of a “rock and roll” feel to it and is quite a departure from their previous albums. Songs such as Oh My God cry out to God for the injustices in the world, and is probably the most powerful song on the album. Great album, and very well produced. As with the Chis’ album, you can listen to the full album online streamed from AOL.

So what’s your playlist? Feel free to add it in the comments section.

Tomlin is awesome! And guess what, Jars of Clay is going to be playing at the Texas State Fair next month. I’m going to try to see them. I haven’t seen them since 2002…and it was at the fair then too! I love Jars!

Hmm, apparently I’m not up w/ the new music. My playlist: JS Bach’s Goldberg Variations (performed by Glenn Gould), Switchfoot’s The Beautiful Letdown. Behind in the times… ;)

Just saw Jars of Clay at the North Georgia Fair. We had to leave early because of the kids, but it was still awesome! I’m trying to get a short clip of it up on my website. :)

I pre-ordered the Good Monsters CD, and it’s a solid piece of art, like all their albums.

Oh yeah, I love Switchfoot too! Tomlin is great, but I haven’t got any of his albums yet, I don’t think.

Great to see some other people who appreciate really good music. ;)
