Parents were in town this past weekend, took them to a bunch of museums and monuments around the WashDC area. Made even better by the fact that they paid for all the dinners, save one. And for that, we went to Morton’s for their anniversary (and my birthday) and had some really awesome steaks. If you’ve never been to Morton’s, it is quite an experience, and you’d better be prepared to drop at least $50 on a piece of meat. Rather than giving you a normal menu, they give you a “menu presentation”… which means they bring out all their different cuts of meat on a platter and actually show it to you. Kinda reminded me of the Simpsons episode where they got to choose their own cow. I had wanted to take them to Rays the Steaks, which would’ve been just as good and half as expensive, but they’re only open Tues - Sat, and June 5 is a Mon. Oh well, yummy meat all around regardless :)

My electric shaver also broke down a week or two ago (it won’t charge or run off the power cable anymore), so I’ve started to shave the old fashion way, with a razor. At first, I tried shaving with those cheap $1 for 15 disposable razors… and that hurt so much, it felt like the hairs were being ripped from my face. Now I have a nicer Gillette triple blade razor, and it works quite well. Except I sometimes get breakouts on my face (still!), and so if you see me in the morning, you’ll probably notice a bunch of tiny nicks and cuts around my mouth area. Slicing off a zit is really not that fun. Moral of this story, unless your face is like leather, don’t get those dull $1 razors discount packs. And if you have any shaving tips, let me know :)

And if you ever visit me in VanBC, you’ll see the perfect lawn my dad keeps. The neighbors’ lawn are not even close :p.

oh so green

Hey Joe, I’m not sure if you’re like me but I have super sensative skin and end up breaking out when I shave. Surprisingly it was way better when I switched to a razor instead of an electric. Gillette Mach 3 for me :) I think there’s some crazy 4 or 5 bladed one too but who knows.

I find after a shower or rinsing with warm water makes for a better shave. So a plus with a manual razor is being able to shave whilst you shower. Not to mention a good aftershave or lotion helps with preventing those ingrown hairs etc.

PS - your mom doesn’t look to happy you’re snapping picks of her on transit :)

PPS - whoops sorry for the comment spam, but I can’t stand it when I mess up my words. I meant “Your mom doesn’t look TOO happy you’re snapping pics of her on transit”

I must say, Joe’s dad is quite the handyman, capable of building pretty much anything. I still remember the renovations to the home he did. It was jaw-droppingly good.
