The New Flickr Photo Album Plugin for WordPress

Alright, here’s the first of hopefully many Silas Partners sponsored plugins for WordPress. If you’ve poked around this site, you’ll probably have already found it.. but in case you havn’t, here’s the ‘official’ announcment.

The Flickr Photo Album plugin for WordPress is a plugin I developed at work. We’re actively using WordPress as a platform for our clients, and this plugin is a direct result of efforts. WordPress is a great Open Source platform, and we want to do our part to contribute back to the community.

If you have a WordPress blog and a Flickr account, then you can use this plugin to very easily pull in your Flickr photos onto your site. You can see an example of this plugin in action on this very site. The look and feel is all based on templates, so you can customize it to match your site completely (tho you’ll probably need to know a bit of HTML and CSS)1. As usual, this plugin is licensed under the GPL, which means it’s free for you to use. However, if you want more than 3 albums to appear (the max Flickr gives you for free accounts), then you’ll want to pay for the “pro-membership”, which allows you to create unlimited albums. And it’s only $25 / year, so it’s really cheap.

An added bonus, your most recent Flickr photos will also appear in your admin screen when you’re creating a new blog post (screenshot). So it’s super duper easy to insert your photos into your blog posts. Kinda like what my previous Flickr Post Bar plugin did, except better, with more features, and with fewer bugs2.

Check it out, and let me know what you think! Also stay tuned for more plugins… another one is coming soon.

1 If you have the inclination to create a nice generic template that’ll work on many different themes, let me know.
2 That is, fewer known bugs.

You might find the Flapi viewer http://flapi.f4l.be/ helpful too – for those of you not using Wordpress :)

    As minhas Fotos…

As minhas fotos no Flickr moram aqui no meu blog (de novo!). Mudei de plugin do Wordpress – agora estou a usar o Photo Album do Joe Tan.

    Hi!

Recently I have downloaded and installed your Flickr plugin in my self hosted blog (using WordPress)

I managed to install it succesfully in my blog, but I can’t view from my blog.

In the WordPress Admin > Options > Flickr Settings

I put http://ssufian.net/passive-income/photos in the ‘Photo Album URL:’

And I also choose ‘The URL specified above’ for the ‘Photos should link to:’

But when I click on the ‘Photos’ link from my blog, I have been directed to the ‘http://ssufian.net/passive-income/photos/’ URL with the ‘404 Not Found’ status.

I have also choose ‘Date and name based’ for my Permalink

You can have a look at my blog at http://www.ssufian.net/passive-income/

Since I am still new to blogging, php and wordpress, I really hope that you could guide me using simple english.

    Thank you.

Hello everyone. I am pretty sure a good number are using wordpress for your website/blog.

Here is my problem. This is so frustrating. All I want to do is add/embed videos into my wordpress website. I thought it would be easy to add video to wordpress because I figured all I had to do was put in the code and the video would display on my page. It DOES NOT work.

I tried adding google video (the embed code that google provides), my flash videos etc. Nothing is working.

There are like hundreds of plugins (some seem so complicated) that I don’t know which one to choose. The ones I have tried don’t work.

So please can someone recommend me a plugin that ACTUALLY works and that is SIMPLE to setup. I would like for the plugin to play my flash videos and google videos on my pages or posts

Also, can someone recommend a good plugin for posting pictures in your posts or pages. I don’t want thumbnails, I am looking to display the pictures in their original size.

By the way, I am using the new wordpress, I think it is 2.0

    Thanks

What I want to do on my blog, is every few hours take the oldest post and move it to the
front of the queue, all automatically. Anyone know if there is a plugin that can do this or
a simple way to set up another plugin to do this (use my own feed perhaps)?
    Thanks.
