The Podcasting Revolution

At my work, I deal with a lot of different churches and ministries, and if you look to the right side of this blog you’ll see a section called “Recent Web Sites”, which is a quick list of some recent web sites I’ve had a hand in making happen. In addition to giving churches and ministries awesome web sites, we also try to keep them up to date with the latest trends in technology and how technology can be utilized to help improve their ministries online. One of the bigger trends recently is podcasting, and I wrote an introductory article about it. The article briefly explains what podcasting is, and how it might apply to a church or ministry. Here’s an excerpt:
An interesting — and some would say great — thing about the Internet is its ability to completely revolutionize and fundamentally challenge established social traditions every couple of years. Podcasting is certainly poised to become another revolution in the way digital media is delivered and consumed. Not familiar with what the term "podcasting" means? Podcasts are regularly produced audio broadcasts which people subscribe and listen to, and can be thought of simply as "radio for the Internet." Whereas traditional over-the-air radio has an extremely high barrier of entrance (i.e. license fee, transmitting hardware), podcasts actually have very low initial setup costs, and are extremely easy to produce.
