Just One More Thing…

iPod Video OMGBBQ!!11!eleven!!!!!1 This is cool. Hot on the heels of the brand new iPod nano, Apple drops another bombshell and unveils a new iPod (also updates on iMac and iTunes). Much like how the iPod nano replaced the iPod mini, this new iPod replaces the regular white iPod and is called, well.. just iPod. So I guess you can think of it as more of an upgrade. But the upgrades are pretty sweet. This time it features a shiney new wide screen and more significantly, it now does video. Video on iPod has been rumored for quite some time now, so it’s not really too surprising… and it sorta makes sense, it’s just technology in general being pushed forward.

So you can play video on your iPod now. Cool. I dont know if I’d like to watch videos on the small screen of an iPod, but the ability to hook it up to a regular TV is pretty neat. What’s even cooler however, is that you can now buy videos. The iTunes online store is now setup to sell not just short music videos, but entire commercial free TV shows (from ABC) for $2 each. So missed an episode of Desperate Housewives? Download it legally for just $2. This is something I can see myself doing quite frequently, well maybe Lost, and not Desperate Housewives. Kudos to ABC for providing downloadable content that’s actually priced reasonably. Hopefully the other networks will join the party and offer their shows for purchase as well. This is how you fight online piracy, by giving people a reasonable legal alternative… not by filing lawsuits against 14 year old girls.
