DC Festival Day 1 + 2

So today (Sat) was DC Festival, hosted by Luis Palau. It’s a free concert held on the National Mall, featuring some popular Christian artists like Toby Mac, Kirk Franklin, and Third Day. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t cooperating and it was raining pretty heavy throughout the day, so the event scheduled had to be shuffled quite a bit. However, it did start to clear up when Luis Palau was on stage giving the Gospel message… when the evening concerts started back up, the rain actually stopped. I wasn’t expecting too many people to be there, but there was actually a pretty good sized crowd, considering the ground was still very much wet and soggy. I saw Kirk Franklin and Toby Mac perform, they were pretty cool. Didn’t see Third Day tho, which I thought was scheduled for Sat, they might’ve cancelled or are performing tomorrow. Anyways, more updates to come for day 2!
In the meantime, here are some photos I took at the festival.
Update 10/11: Sunday was much better, tho the turn out apparently still wasn’t as big as organizers had hoped for. It was still cloudy, and it really looked like it could rain at any moment.. but fortunately , it didn’t. Spent most of the day on the National Mall just hanging out and listening to the concerts. Luis Palau spoke about sexual purity and broken families, and then Steven Baldwin (the actor) came on to give his personal testimony, which was pretty neat. Finally, Steven Curtis Chapman closed out the festival… Steven really does rock.
