Ever notice…
No Comments…that things always seem to come in bursts? Last year was weddings (I think I went to at least 5 or 6), and this year it’s looking to be helping people move. This year, it seems like almost everyone I know here has moved to a new place, or is going to move to a new place. It’s kinda weird, in the past 4 or 5 weeks, I’ve helped 4 people move already, one of which was also helping paint the walls of a new condo ;p I’m not really one for manual labor, but it is rewarding to help friends out, especially if they feed you with free food
So the other day, I got to go see the fireworks from one of the balconies at the Capitol building. A friend from church works at the Capitol so she was able to get me and a few other people access into the Capitol building to see the fireworks (thanks!). We also got a mini-tour of the inside of the Capitol as we worked our way up to the balcony, so that was an added bonus, since I’ve never been inside the US Capitol building before. The parts I got to see was pretty nice (as one would expect), lots of statues and busts of famous men I dont really know :). Overall, the fireworks was pretty good… but not as good as the annual Celebration of Lights fireworks show in VanBC ;). It was cool none-the-less to hear the symphony play in the background on stage while the fireworks went off into the air, especially when they played the 1812 overture complete with actual cannons firing and making very loud KA-BOOM noises. The view was also very nice, since we were able to look down the mall (sorta), and watch the fireworks go off just behind the Washington Monument. I didn’t take too many pictures, but I’ll upload what I have soon ![]()
