Google Earth

So, Yet Another Google Post: Google just released Google Earth, an amazing Windows program which lets you literally zoom around the world. Starting with a view of the entire earth from space, you can zoom in all the way down to your street address, and then “fly over” (by zooming out and zooming back in) to another location. The super cool part is that Google Earth has 3D maps of buildings and skyscrapers for some major cities, not just flat 2D satellite images. So for example, you could fly around downtown New York and move between the actual skyscrapers. When I downloaded this program at work and started to play with it, my entire office literally crowded around my desk and started to oooh and ahhh at all the cool tricks it could do. If you’re on Windows (Mac version is apparently coming soon), download it and give it a try. And like most Google applications, the best part of all this is that it’s 100% free.

PS, June 29 is free ice-cream day at starbucks :)

    Hi All Experts,
Does anyone use google earth images as ground image planes for use in aerial scenes. I know how to stitch them together but are there any tools or tricks to make sure that the images are at the same height, angle and such to make sure they stitch well. I know in the pro version you can get bigger images but im not going to pay for the pro version when i could stitch multiple images together…
